Someone Like You (The Soulmates Saga, Book 3) Blurb Reveal

Hello everyone, thank you for dropping by! I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share the blurb for Someone Like You (Soulmates Saga, Book 3) with you today.

Let me know if it whets your appetite, and any thoughts you have on what will happen in Book 3.

It was one thing for Mukti to move on and be happy with someone else when Jamie had left her in New York. When he’d given her his blessing. But now that he knew who her lover was, the fact that he didn’t approve of her choice and wanted her back, it was doubly hard to accept that Mukti still wanted to be with Jonathan. A very bitter pill to swallow.

Mukti, Jamie and Jonny are unable to untangle themselves from each others’ lives. Jamie loves Mukti more than anything. She is his soulmate. He has lost her too many times, lived without her for too long, to know that he doesn’t want anyone but her.

Jonny feels the same way about Mukti. But he is aware that, despite the fact that she has chosen to start a new life with him in London, his journey with her could, at any time, come to an abrupt end.

Mukti believes Jamie is her soulmate. Being his life partner however, is something she isn’t ready for. The sacrifices she would have to make in order to be with him ask too much of her.

With heartache and bliss twisting with jealousy and hatred, the past colliding with the present, which path will Mukti be thrown onto - the one that cements her relationship with her saviour Jonny, or the one that leads her back to her soulmate Jamie?

‘Someone Like You’ is the epic third instalment of the Soulmates Saga, which sees Mukti and her loves facing the toughest tests yet.

News on UPCOMING RELEASE & Why I've Been Away So Long

You probably read the title of this post and thought, What? Book three of the Soulmates Saga is about to be launched and yet we haven’t heard from Neha in the last seven or eight months, how come?

I know, I know. I’m sorry.

I haven’t been on Twitter, Facebook or active on this blog for the better half of 2015, and in the first post of 2016, which I posted on Thursday, January 14, I hinted that I may have exciting book-related news to share with you. Poor form on my part, so I apologise.

If you’re wondering whether I’ve been cooped up in my study for the past several months, writing away, so I could announce a new book release in the New Year, you’re wrong. I wish I’d spent the majority of 2015 working on my books. Hell, if I had to I spend last year sitting around watching paint dry, I’d take it, because 2015 was one of the hardest years of my life.

Well, the last five years have been really tough.

If you read my posts in May 2013, When Life Becomes Stranger Than Fiction, Part I and II, you’ll know that my mum suffered a life-threatening brain injury in December 2012, a fortnight before my wedding day, which left her paralysed and wheelchair-bound. She was never able to regain use of her limbs and though she managed a little speech, she had lost most of who she was. She suffered a great deal during the year she spent in hospital and even when she went home. Chest infections, pneumonia, problems with her weak heart and all sorts meant that she was always in-and-out of hospital. Always in pain. It hurt so much to see her go through this, it really did.

In May 2015, she was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and I was diagnosed with a couple of serious illnesses myself, which forced me to quit my job in the financial services sector, at a point in my career when I was truly flying high. I didn’t tell my mum about my condition, or my siblings; they had enough to deal with. We’d all seen what cancer can do to a person, from when my 30-year-old sister-in-law died of pancreatic cancer in August 2012. Right before our very eyes, in our very home, the cancer had taken a young, healthy-looking mother of two beautiful little girls and turned her into someone unrecognisable, stick-thin and shrivelled up. Before the cancer in mum’s kidney could spread and shrivel her up, she died of heart failure in November 2015. Words can’t describe just how devastating that was, how much I miss her, how alone I feel because she’s gone.

The strange thing is, a couple of months before my mum passed away, I got this urge to continue writing the third book in the Soulmates Saga. Up until then, I’d been too sad, too sick, too worried and too busy to write anything, let alone finish a novel that I’d - luckily - written 75% of before my mum first got sick in Winter 2012. And so, I tackled the last section of the book, despite how much it hurt me physically to sit down and write. I was extremely close to finishing the first draft - probably five or six chapters to the end - when my mum died. I expected the pain and grief to dissolve my new-found keenness to finish the book and I awaited the return of the writer’s block which I suffered from when she first became ill.

But it never came.

I think it was because I didn’t want to say that my mum’s death caused me a setback. I didn’t want to attribute anything negative to her, for she had been the most pure of heart and innocent person I ever knew. I was determined to finish what I started, finish it for her.

And I have.

The Soulmates Saga, Book 3 is in pre-publication mode and I am very excited to let you know that it will be released this summer. Yay! It's called Someone Like You and it's the epic third instalment in this contemporary romance series set in London and New York. The series follows the life and loves of young artist Mukti Khan

Books I Read in 2015

We're two weeks into 2016, and I haven't started a new book yet, eek! And though I currently have five books on my to-read shelf (all by husband and wife writing duo Nicci French), I doubt I'll be able to make a start on them this week. Or next.

Reason: I have some important work to do for me... More on that another day. Today, lets take a look back at all the books I read last year.

One of the authors I discovered in 2015 was Stella Rimington. Former Director General of MI5, no wonder her spy novels are rich in detail and so gripping. The Geneva Trap was the first spy novel I ever read and it made me hungry for more books in this genre. Also at the start of the year, I got hooked on Jeffrey Archer's Clifton Chronicles, after reading the first book in the series, Only Time Will Tell. I loved each and every one the volumes in this family saga, which charts 100 years of the Clifton/Barrington family. I am looking forward to the next book, set to release next month, Cometh The Hour.

By the second half of the year, I'd gotten obsessed, like in my late teens and early adult life, with crime novels. I can't explain it. I mean, I write contemporary romance and a little bit of paranormal romance/adventure, but I find myself reading ten times more crime fiction than the genres I write for. And I can't even attribute it to research and interest in learning how to write detective novels, because, quite frankly, I don't think I'm clever enough to write a whodunit!

If you haven't yet deduced from the snapshot above and the one below, the most-read author in 2015 was Harlan Coben. I just adore his fast-paced crime thrillers that always have a twist at the end that you don't see coming. One of the things I like best about his books are that they are almost always set in the Tri-State region, i.e. the New York metropolitan area (New Jersey, Connecticut and of course, the state of New York), and some key characters from one book, make cameo appearances in others. Coben's Myron Bolitar series is my favourite of course, but his standalone novels, in which Myron gets mentioned every now and then, are equally good.

So that just leaves me to tell you what I am hoping to read in 2016. More Harlan Coben! More paranormal romace - the good quality stuff, and hopefully discover more crime-writers. Also, I started the Lux series towards the end of 2015, with the first two books Obsidian and Onyx, and I'm going to check out the rest of the books focusing on Katy and her alien neighbours next door. It's sort of like Twilight with aliens. But hey, if the formula works, it works, and makes great reading, so why knock it? I won't, if its this good.

Visit my blog in the next few weeks for a sneak-peek at what I'm up to. Until then, bye for now.
